Urmila began working for international media organisations as a video journalist in 2011. The fast-paced world of news showed her the power of visuals in conveying emotions and narratives. With a Master’s in Geopolitics, she moved into the development sector, collaborating with the United Nations, international aid organisations and local NGOs, for which she has worked in Asia, Central America, Africa and Europe. There, she produced, scripted, shot and edited documentary-style videos, as well as taking still photographs, and helped bring social and humanitarian issues closer to audiences around the world.
